This Greek red wine reveals a deep color, a generous nose of ripe black fruit, sweet spices, and fine oak, and a full, structured palate supported by silky tannins.
Made from international grape varieties grown in the mountainous region of Amyntaio, it benefits from a cool climate and a mineral-rich terroir, perfect for producing age-worthy red wines.
Ideal with stews, grilled meats, lamb, or aged cheeses, this distinguished wine will appeal to lovers of powerful and elegant Mediterranean reds rooted in authentic winemaking tradition.

Amyntas Wines' 1959 dry red wine is an ode to time, the land, and legacy. Grown in the Amyntaio region of northwest Greece, this deep and structured wine takes its name from a symbolic year for the estate: 1959, the founding date of a family and winemaking heritage.
Made from international grape varieties perfectly acclimatized to the cool climate of this region of western Macedonia, it displays a deep ruby, almost garnet, color. The nose is expressive, blending notes of ripe black fruits (blackberry, plum), oriental spices, blond tobacco, fine leather, and toasted wood. On the palate, the structure is assertive yet elegant: rounded tannins, balanced acidity, and a lingering finish with aromas of licorice and black cherry.
This wine is perfectly suited to accompany flavorful dishes: red meats, game, Mediterranean stews, or even aged hard cheeses. It can be enjoyed now after decanting, but can also be cellared for a few years.
At Poupadou, we value Greek wines that tell a story. The 1959 dry red is a beautiful example: a wine of memory, expertise, and depth, inviting you to discover the unsuspected richness of Greek vineyards.
