The linden or tilia is a deciduous tree, known since antiquity. Filyra was one of the nymphs and specifically the Oceanids and mother of the centaur Chiron according to greek mythology. She was a deity of recovery, beauty and fragrance.

The linden tree has been known since antiquity for its wood, honey and the healing properties of its decoction. There are reports from Theophrastus, Pliny and Virgil, while Dioscorides pointed out that the decoction of its leaves cured snake bites.

In Greece we find mainly three species (Tilia europaea, tomentosa and cordata) that bloom at the end of May. Its flowers and leaves are collected in June. It is widely known for its soothing and relaxing properties. A cup of linden in the afternoon or evening calms the body from the intensity of everyday life. At the same time, it helps to treat colds, to fight insomnia and calms the nervous system.
