We propose you a very simple recipe to make at home, which will allow you to very easily obtain a delicious crisp and tasty bread! You can make it without or by adding sesame seeds if you want to get the bread as it is tasted in Greece.
This recipe makes 3 loaves.
- 1 kg flour
- 50 g baker's yeast or 2 sachets of instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 50 cl warm water
- sesame seeds (optional)
- olive oil
In a bowl, add yeast with a little warm water and a pinch of sugar. Stir so that the yeast dilutes and cover with cling film. When foam forms, the yeast will be ready to use.
In a bowl, put the flour, the activated yeast, the spoon of sugar and salt. Then, stir everything.
Gradually add the water and knead the dough. You will know that the dough is ready when it will no longer attach to the bowl.
Put the bread dough on the table, knead it for about 10 min until it no longer sticks to your fingers.
Give the dough a ball shape. In a bowl, pour olive oil
and put the dough in it (still in the form of a ball) and cover everything with a transparent film. Let sit for 40 minutes. Then put it on the table and knead it a little.
Cut the dough into 3 parts. Give the shape you prefer (we prefer loaf), and roll them in sesame seeds if you want to get bread like in Greece.
Put the dough pieces in a dish sprinkled with flour, cover them with a kitchen towel and let them stand until they double in size. The operation takes approximately 1 to 2 hours depending on the ambient temperature. Then cut them with a knife in 2-3 places and cook for 40 min at 200 ° C.
