Tahini is a sesame paste, with a very high nutritional value, that is widely used in Greece but also in the cuisines of the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
In Greek cuisine it is mainly used as a spread on bread either alone or in combination with honey or jam. It is also used to make tahini soup, halva, Lenten walnut pie, ice cream and Cypriot tahini pie.
Tahini is a basic ingredient for the hummus that accompanies your falafel or aperitifs, but also for the preparation of baba ganoush (Lebanese eggplant salad) or sauce for lachmatzoun! You can use it for various sweets such as cookies, cereal bars and even brownies !
