Otto’s Negroni

Negroni cocktail was named after the Count Pascal-Olivier de Negroni (and not after Camillo Negroni as members of the Negroni family stated), a famous general of the army. It is said that Count Negroni asked once in Florence the bartender Fosco Scarselli to prepare an Americano, but to substitute soda water with gin. Fosco Scarselli prepared the cocktail as the Count wished and in order to show that this cocktail was a different one, he added instead of a lemon zest, an orange one. Otto’s Negroni is a slightly different recipe from the usual one.
