Retsina is one of the most famous Greek wines in the world that is associated with taverns and friends.
It has its roots in retinite wine. In ancient times, pine resin was used to seal amphorae so that wine would not be sour. Therefore, a piece of this resin passed into the wine and flavoured it.
The main varieties used for the production of retsina wine are Savvatianos or Roditis.
Retsina is served chilled and accompanies the appetizers of Greek cuisine, such as cheese, eggplant salad, small fried fish and seafood in general, souvlaki, tzatziki, skordalia and salads.
