Lentils are an angiosperm, dicotyledonous plant and one of the first to be systematically cultivated by humans.

Their protein content ranks them in third place among legumes, while they have been selected by the internationally renowned magazine "Health" as one of the five healthiest foods.

Lentils are a good source of iron and contain more than half of a person's daily allowable iron in a cup.

The amount of this legume produced in the Feneos area is very small. For this reason, "Dikotylon" collaborates with specific producers of Larissa (Thessaly) who embrace the same values.

Fakes, like gigantes, in greek traditional cuisine are intertwined with the dish itself. Lentils in Greece have traditionally become soup, fakorizo (lentils with rice), while in recent years they have begun to be used in cold salads, to accompany sausages, seafood such as octopus, fish, risotto and even gemista (stuffed vegetables).
